The Learning Action Beat Buffet: Sound Education and Music Production for
Individual and Community Healing
A. Billi Free is a musical artist, community coordinator and parent. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American/Latino Studies from DePaul University in Chicago where she also served as Student Development Coordinator at the Steans Center for Community-Based Service Learning. She is Program Director for the LAB’s Learning Action Beat Buffet, which seeks to promote individual and community healing through sound education and music production, and co-Executive Producer of the LAB Radio Hour that airs on KTAL Las Cruces community radio. Internationally, she is a Cultural Ambassador of Hip Hop with the US State Department’s Next Level Program, serving as Artist Educator and managing arts residencies in Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Chile and Botswana. She is also part of the touring Hip Hop education collective, Cypher Connect, recently returning from Belgium. Both her artistic and community work is built on the values of creativity, collaboration, integrity, adaptability, advancement and fun.
