Julia Smith, Ph.D. is an artist-scholar and documentary filmmaker whose work explores outsider cinema, gender, and the cultural history of film. She is currently completing Birth of the Acid Western, a feature-length documentary on Orville Wanzer, the first filmmaker to make an independent feature in New Mexico, and curates monthly screenings with Cult Cinema Club in Mesilla.
